To my readers,¬…

To my readers,

I would like to introduce to you my great-uncle Tom. A ninety-two year old resident of Edmonton, AB, Canada, Uncle Tom is as wise as they come. He has begun to teach me to learn enthusiastically, think critically, and even teach eagerly. In a series of letters that I sent from here in Vancouver to Edmonton, I introduced to Tom my new-found interest in the study of anthropology. More specifically, these letters describe and analyze a social movement of the indigenous Haida people on Haida Gwaii. This movement resulted in the protest known as the Lyell Island Blockade in 1985. This blog is made up entirely of the letters I sent to my Uncle Tom. I hope you will humour me as he has!
